Our History

Parker Glass & Door Service, Inc. has been installing automatic doors, storefronts, glass and glazing for over 60 years. The business was started in October of 1962 by the father and son duo: Woodrow Parker and Ron Parker. Parker Glass & Door Service, Inc. continues to offer the quality service our customers have come to expect.

Woodrow Parker worked in the glass and glazing field for years before opening Parker Glass & Door Service, Inc. He retired in 1978 passing the family business to his son, Ron. Woodrow passed away in 1988 leaving a legacy of great service and quality products for generations.

Ron Parker, President and Owner, was born and raised in Tampa. He moved to Brandon in 1955 and graduated from Brandon High School. He married Carol Kyle of Mango and they have 3 children, 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Ron and Carol both work hard to exceed their customers expectations. Ron has over 60 years experience in the automatic door industry, including knowledge in the glass and glazing field obtained from working after school for the same company as his father. Today Ron continues to pass down the knowledge of his father to his children Ron Parker Jr. and Julie Thayer. Julie has been working full time for the company since 1990. Ron Jr. joined full time in 1999 and became the lead storefront estimator in 2001. In 2012 Ron Jr. and Julie were among the first State Certified Glass & Glazing Contractors, meeting all of the current requirements to be licensed in Florida.

In the early years, the company completed many projects, including Disney World, Circus World, Tampa International Airport, and numerous grocery stores. In 1981 Parker Glass & Door Service, Inc. became a distributor for Besam Entrance Solutions, which is now Assa Abloy. The company has also become a distributor for Record Automatic Doors. As an automatic door and glass company we have done work for grocery chains such as Winn Dixie, South Eastern Grocers, Albertson's, Sweetbay, and Save-A-Lot. We have also done work for Sarasota-Bradenton Airport and Kennedy Space Center. Additionally, we service several large hotel chains which include Hampton Inn, Fairfield Inn, Staybridge Suites, Springhill Suites, Townplace Suites, Hilton, Home2Suites, Ritz Carlton, and many others. Winn Dixie has been a valued customer for over 50 years. As an automatic door distributor we continue to offer the quality service and products our customers rely on.
